Catphan® 503

The Catphan® 503 phantom is distributed through Elekta to assist in the commissioning of the XVI kV imager on its Linac systems.  The Catphan® 503 phantom consists of 3 modules that cover the Elekta 3D XVI customer acceptance tests and required CBCT TG-142 imaging tests .

To assist Catphan customers, The Phantom Laboratory has worked with Image Owl, Inc. to develop Catphan® QA, a web-based service for fully automated analysis of Catphan Phantom images. All currently manufactured Catphan models are supported.

Catphan® 504

The Catphan® 504 phantom was distributed through Varian to assist in the commissioning and QA of the OBI  kV imager on its Linac systems.  The Catphan® 504 phantom consists of 4 modules that cover all required CBCT imaging tests for TG142. The Catphan® 504 phantom is no longer manufactured as of the fourth quarter of 2015. It has been replaced by the Catphan® 604 phantom (see below).

Catphan® 604

The Catphan® 604 has been selected by Varian as an updated phantom to replace the Catphan® 504 phantom. The phantom started distribution in the second half of 2015. The Catphan® 604 phantom is distributed through Varian to assist in the commissioning and QA of the OBI  kV imager on its Linac systems.  The Catphan® 604 phantom consists of 3 modules that cover all required CBCT imaging tests for TG142.

COPDGene Lung Phantom II

CTP698 and CCT162 COPDGene® Lung Phantom II
The CTP698 and CCT162 Lung Phantoms were designed for performing comparative measurements between CT scanners as part of the COPDGene® Study. The phantoms were developed following input from the QIBA COPD/Asthma Technical Committee.  These phantoms are not intended to replace comprehensive quality assurance testing programs.  Instead, they are intended to offer additional information for use in monitoring CT scanners used in clinical studies.

The phantom is available in the CTP698 version and in a CCT162 version which includes end plates and support legs. The end plates and stabilizer legs on the CCT162 provide greater stability when scanning and the plates help protect the lung foam material from damage. The phantoms contain three NIST identified  reference foams along with a water bottle, acrylic and air samples. There is an assortment of different sized airways with polycarbonate walls with internal diameters ranging from 2.5mm to 6mm and outside diameters ranging from 3.3mm to 9mm. The CCT162 Lung Phantom consists of an outer ring (Catphan® Uniformity Material Ring), which simulates tissue attenuation, and a central oval insert, which simulates lung attenuation. The ring  is cast from a specially formulated urethane with an electron density just above water.

CCT189 and CCT191 MITA IQ Low Contrast Phantoms

The CCT189 (body)  and CCT191 (head) Low Contrast Phantoms are designed for low contrast imaging evaluations as defined by the MITA CT IQ Task Group. These phantoms replace the earlier CCT183 phantom.

Both phantoms have eight contrast rods evaluated at manufacturing to be within 0.05% density or ±0.5 HU  of target values.  The symmetric positioning of the contrast object make these phantoms ideal for conducting forced choice and rating scale experiments for evaluating reconstruction algorithms.

The CCT189 LC Body Phantom has the following contrast rods:

  • 14HU contrast, 3mm diameter x 40mm length  and 15mm diameter x 10mm length
  • 7HU contrast, 5mm diameter x 40mm length  and 15mm diameter x 10mm length
  • 5HU contrast, 7mm diameter x 40mm length  and 15mm diameter x 10mm length
  • 3HU contrast, 10mm diameter x 40mm length  and 15mm diameter x 10mm length

The CCT191 LC Body Phantom has the following contrast rods:

  • 9HU contrast, 3mm diameter x 40mm length  and 15mm diameter x 10mm length
  • 7HU contrast, 5mm diameter x 40mm length  and 15mm diameter x 10mm length
  • 5HU contrast, 7mm diameter x 40mm length  and 15mm diameter x 10mm length
  • 3HU contrast, 10mm diameter x 40mm length  and 15mm diameter x 10mm length
